Drive Cars Down A Hill Maps and Chapters
Day 1 Dunes through Hydrochapter Depot, plus the removed forest.
Drive Cars Down A Hill is not one slope. Official copy on dcdah.com sells four levels and 80+ miles of North Nevada: desert dunes, abandoned commercial zones, and a hydroelectric dam. In practice players name four playable chapters and one ghost. This page is the map sheet in the vehicles hub. Cars that survive those maps live on the vehicle roster. Passes that skip walking live on gamepasses.
The experience launched April 19, 2022. A server holds 25 drivers. Traffic is part of the terrain.
Dunes (Day 1)
Dunes is the oldest chapter and the one every new Jalopy meets. Spawn is a small Nevada mining town. Day 1 is the long desert drop with four sniper towers for the Sniper pass. Named stretches you will hear in voice chat:
- Start — spawn hill, first tower near the river jump, second tower, then the road into Ghosttown. The line is “once you have started, there is no turning back.”
- Ghosttown — cliff into a dead town, sunken buildings used as ramps, train bridges over a river, then Overgrowth
- Overgrowth — cactus field, third tower, abandoned train, fourth tower, then The Climb
- The Climb — the joke that you must drive cars up a hill to reach the Day 1 halfway area
Later Day 1 language includes Milbase / Area 89, a dried basin with sea mines, a minefield, a warzone kelp field, and a far-desert highway toward a finish teleport. You do not need every fan nickname on day one. You do need the Dunes walkthrough before you treat sniper towers as a side quest.
Towers matter because the Sniper (M40A5) pass only fires there, with teleport pads between towers and a pad at spawn to tower one. Head or torso is a one-shot; limbs take 50. Drivers who ignore towers on a 25-player server donate cash to gunners. The named lookouts, including Lookout Point Alpha, sit on sniper towers. Crash survival is how you keep a line when someone is shooting the hood.
Bunk Laps
Bunk Laps is the commercial-zone chapter people use when Hydrochapter is still locked or their car is too weak for Depot water. Community farm talk points at the gas station: drive until the maze section, teleport back, repeat. It pays less than Hydrochapter and asks less of the chassis. Keep it in your pocket as a backup loop, not as the endgame. Section names, the Booth stretch, and the Noob Barrel live on the Bunk Laps walkthrough.
Bring a stable shop car, not Cougar, if the route is twitchy. The starter vehicles ladder (Jalopy, Volga, Lada) is enough to learn Bunk Laps without a 300 MPH ego.
Hydrochapter
Hydrochapter is the dam chapter and the cash chapter. Unlock it, teleport to Depot, take the second-from-right path, and reset when cash jumps about 100k. That loop is written out in the cash farm and Hydrochapter guides. Pair it with the cash planner so Gaz-66 and Sand Bruiser are a known number of runs.
Cougar is fast and unstable on water here. Contact is the speed car people want once Cougar feels loose. Survival S from the best cars page (Gaz-66, Sand Bruiser FJ45, Kuban) is what actually finishes the dam when the 125 MPH boat truck is already sinking.
Upgrade Teleport is the pass that makes Depot resets sane: it unlocks all visible checkpoints you have already passed. Gravity Coil is the pass that disables cash, which makes it a sightseeing toy on the best money map in the game.
North Nevada
North Nevada is a playable day added 22 March 2024, not just the brochure name on dcdah.com. It is the beginner chapter: milder terrain, rock canyons, a potash mine, and no mines. Full-gameplay videos often open here before Dunes, Bunk Laps, and Hydrochapter. Use it to learn controls without a sniper tower. When someone says “meet at spawn” on an older clip, they usually mean Dunes; on a 2024-plus server they may mean this easier Nevada day. The dedicated North Nevada guide keeps the 2024 map separate from the brochure slogan.
Forest Chapter (removed)
Forest Chapter is gone. Old screenshots and word-of-mouth still mention it. Do not plan a farm, a meet, or a weekly vehicles purchase around a forest that is no longer in the rotation. If a clip disagrees with this page, trust the live game and latest updates.
How maps change what you buy
- Dunes punishes low skill and snipers. Spawn Jalopy. Learn controls.
- Bunk Laps punishes impatience. Use it to fund Volga and Lada.
- Hydrochapter punishes weak chassis and coil tourists who turned cash off.
- North Nevada is the no-mine classroom. Graduate to Dunes when you can stay in the seat.
Like + Join still beats empty codes. Group gifts are on group rewards. Official mile-count language is summarized on official links. Community routes belong on community links. Scripts that skip driving are documented under scripts with the usual risk notes.
Four levels, 80+ miles, one removed forest. The hill that matters is the one you can still steer on after Ghosttown. Everything else is a postcard from a chapter you have not unlocked.
